# Impersonating An Investor

## Impersonating an investor portal user allows you to preview the investor portal experience. This means you can see all investment details and documents exactly as an investor would see them after signing into their account.

This feature can help you assist an investor in finding a document or with navigating the investor portal.

***Please note that you can only impersonate a user if they have activated their portal by creating a password.*** To learn about contact portal statuses, please read the following [article](https://5708692.hs-sites.com/support/verify-if-an-investor-has-logged-into-their-portal-verivest-help-center?hsLang=en).

To impersonate a user, follow these steps:

1. Click on **Contacts** from your dashboard menu
2. Locate & select the Contact/investor that you wish to impersonate
3. Click **Impersonate**

   *Impersonation will open in a new browsing window*

Remember to end your impersonation session once you have finished viewing an investor's portal experience. You can do this by clicking "**End Impersonation**" located at the top of your browsing window.
